Mortality

There is a beauty in our mortality,
In the fact we feel pain,
That we feel love,
That we are fragile.

There is a beauty in our mortality,
In the fact we won’t live forever,
That we don’t know our purpose,
That we don’t have all the answers.

There is a beauty in our mortality,
In the fact that we are temperamental,
That our existence depends on powers out of our control,
That we don’t know how long we have left.

There is a beauty in our mortality,
In the fact that we are all alone,
That we will never know what it is like to be someone else,
That we are destined to die.
